The Dnipro Appeal - An Update 19 December 2005
We thought it was about time we started updating the site. As most of you can imagine, the last few weeks have been frantic, with online auctions, sales, competitions, tournaments and collections under way.
The Hibernian Support has been as generous as ever, with in excess of £ 2000 (our initial goal) collected within the first two weeks of the Christmas Appeal.
We continue to tally things up in advance of Stevie Carr's return to Dnipropetrovsk to see the kids on January 19th. We will be filling you in on Stevie's plans over the next few weeks, along with updates of how the fundraising went, the great help given by both the Hibs and Scottish Football community and fantastic auction prizes put up by the kind hearted Hibees.
This weekend saw our Contacts in Dnipro, Mike and Ira and their group of dedicated helpers throw a Christmas Party for the Kids. Using funds we left with them on our previous trip, the guys purchased sweets and gifts for the kids and organised a puppet show and a sing song for everyone. They planned to take photos and send them on to us, we will get them on here as soon as possible.
Things are coming along nicely with our application to become an official registered charity and we hope to see registration coming through early in the new year.
We will get back to you later in the week with more details of how things have went and what we intend to do with the money everyone worked hard to both raise and give.
