NewsDnipro Race Night (23/02/08) - Raised £1800! After a lot of planning, including Babs promoting the event on local radio stations Forth 1 & 2 and Talk 107, and with Stevie and Colin promoting the event on the fans websites Hibbeesbounce and Hibsnet, the second Dnipro Appeal race night took place at the Hibernian Supporter club at Sunnyside Leith on the 23 February 2008.A great turnout was achieved and included kids sponsors, their families, friends and members of the general Hibs community. The night involved 8 races, a buffet meal, and a raffle and ended with a disco. One of our own well know hibs fan and ex Dnipro committee member, Colin Dudgeon was the MC for the evening’s events and helped organise the night along with Babs Macdonald and other committee members. Colin’s flair for these events shone through as he compared the night with immense energy and charisma. The night was great fun and real excitement was generated as “punters” got into the spirit of the evening by screaming for their horses on the big screen. Cries of joy and tears of disappointment were shed with the results, as each race came and went. We also had two auctions on the night, one for a Framed Signed Print and one for a Hospitality Day at Easter Road. The print was won by Mark Jones with a bid of £100 and the Hospitality Package by Ronnie McCallum with a bid of £210. The raffle was also a huge hit, but the big winners on the night were the kids from Dnipro. The night was a huge success but we would not have raised the fantastic amount of £1800 without the help and support of those that attended, as well as the race sponsors and all those that donated raffle prizes, as listed below.
