NewsAberdeen Supports The Dnipro Kids
The fantastic generosity of the Aberdeen faithful has come to the fore
since they were drawn against FC Dnipro in the UEFA Cup. I suspect that
most supporters will have been pondering their teams chances of
progression, whilst others will have started making the travel plans to
follow their team abroad.However, once they'd heard about the work that the Dnipro Appeal had done for the orphaned children of Dnipropetrovsk they just had to get involved. That involvement" has so far raised nearly £900 to aid the various organisations based in Dnipropetrovsk that the Dnipro Appeal help out. And with Aberdeen supporter Joe Whimster leading the way, the Dnipro Appeal Committee are delighted with the initial response from the Aberdeen supporter. It was thanks to enquiries, made by Joe, that Aberdeen Football Club, in conjunction with the Clydesdale Bank, were able to present Joe with a cheque for £750 at the recent home game against Motherwell. There have also been promises from Aberdeen Football Club of memorabilia that will be able to be auctioned off for further fundraising. With supporters continuing to make online donations, and also offers to transport much needed baby items from those travelling, it looks very much like the visit of kilted Scotsman is going to make yet another big impression with the citizens of the Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk.
