NewsBalerno Ladies Triatheletes Donate £800 ! The Dnipro Appeal would would like offer a huge thank you to Elaine Cairns, Tracey Clark and Caroline Cleland for their excellent donation of £800 which they achieved through sponsorship of their participation in the Balerno Ladies Triathlon.This was the 3rd time the Balerno Ladies Triathlon, affiliated with Triathlon Scotland, was held. The race itself was held on Saturday 7th October and started from Balerno high school. The race involves a 400m swim, a 10k cycle and a 5k run. Anyone interested in the race for next year should visit the website on www.pentlandtriculb.co.uk. The numbers are restricted though and this year the max was 64. This was the 2nd time that Elaine, Tracey and Caroline have participated in the race, with them raising a similar amount of money last year for 'Sick Kids'. This year they were all quite determined to improve on their times of last year, and this year saw them do exactly that. Well done, especially considering that none of them were members of any sports clubs. Elaine and Tracy, not being good swimmers, had to partake in a few lessons to help improve their technique, whilst Caroline has greatly improved her running skills and is now reguarly doing 10k quite easily, and is thinking of doing the Edinburgh half marathon! Elaine Cairns tells us "Neither of the girls are really interested in football and it didnt register with them the Dnipro Appeal's connection to Hibs - their husbands soon put them right! It was an ideal charity for me to choose because my whole family are hibbies and Eddie and I were married at Easter Road! Being a Hibby you get to hear a lot about the appeal and I feel really proud that my team name is associated with such a worthwhile cause and that the our supporters have been so generous. I also think that charity is such a personal thing and this is one that I can really assoicate with. Well done for setting it up!!" Well done ladies and best of luck for next years event.
